September 15, 2026 · 6:30 PMPUBLIC HEARING

BPOL public hearing

Board of Supervisors · Countywide

Stafford Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA

The Board will receive public comment on a proposal to restore a Business, Professional and Occupational License tax. The proposed tax has not been adopted.

Why this matters

A BPOL tax would be measured against business gross receipts rather than profit. The Board has not adopted a tax or final rate.

Stage: PROPOSED

What happens next: After the hearing, the Board may take action, defer consideration, or schedule further proceedings. The outcome must be checked against the official record.

Latest update: September 12, 2026 — The county lists the September 15 Board meeting. Check the official agenda for changes to the hearing item.

November 3, 2026VOTER REFERENDUM

School construction sales-tax referendum

Stafford County voters · Countywide

Stafford voters will decide whether to authorize a local sales and use tax of up to 1% for eligible school construction, renovation and capital projects. A yes vote would authorize the Board of Supervisors to implement it; it would not itself select or fully fund individual projects.

Why this matters

The measure would affect the tax on eligible purchases and create a dedicated source for school capital needs. School operating expenses could not be paid from this revenue.

Stage: ON BALLOT

What happens next: After ballots are counted and the result is certified, the Board could consider implementation if voters authorize the tax. Individual capital projects require their own approvals.

Latest update: September 12, 2026 — Stafford Schools lists the referendum for November 3 and explains that approval would authorize, rather than automatically implement, the tax.

Accokeek Center: Board review

Board of Supervisors · Falmouth

Accokeek Center has requested a comprehensive-plan amendment, rezoning and a conditional-use permit for an electrical substation. The Planning Commission recommended approval; the Board of Supervisors has not granted final approval.

Why this matters

The requests would affect land-use designations and permitted development near Richmond Highway in Falmouth, including data-center uses and an electrical substation.

Stage: RECOMMENDED BY PLANNING COMMISSION

What happens next: The Board may schedule its own hearing and consider the requests. Consult the official agenda before making plans to attend.

Latest update: September 12, 2026 — Planning Commission recommendation reported after its August 26 hearing. A Board hearing date has not been verified.

Enon Road Tech Park rezoning

Board of Supervisors · Hartwood

A rezoning request seeks to change approximately 162 acres along Enon Road from agricultural and light-industrial zoning to heavy-industrial zoning for up to 2 million square feet of data-center uses and related infrastructure. A separate electric-substation compliance review is also listed.

Why this matters

A zoning change would alter permitted land uses in Hartwood. The application and requested floor area are proposals, not an approved construction plan.

Stage: UNDER REVIEW

What happens next: Further Planning Commission or Board consideration may be scheduled; the official agenda will establish the next action and date.

Latest update: September 12, 2026 — County application materials and a May Board time-extension item are available. No next hearing date has been verified.
